What Is a Loan For Unemployed People?

Loans for unemployment exist to help people who need access to fast money but are currently without work and are therefore having trouble getting approved by mainstream lenders. Many banks and other lenders require employment as part of their qualifying criteria.

Cigno can act as your agent to help you apply for a loan of up to $1000 from a lender who does not require employment as part of its criteria. Cash loans for unemployed people are transferred rapidly with loan funds typically in your account on the same day, helping you pay for urgent or unforeseen expenses now and paying back the debt later

Why Choose Cigno?

The benefits of applying for a cash loan for unemployed people with Cigno include:

Small Loans for Unemployed People

When you’re out of work, a large loan won’t usually be suitable. It’s more likely that a small loan with manageable repayments is what will help you get by until you find a new job. Cigno can act as your agent to assist you to apply for small loans up to $1,000.

Loans for Unemployed People on Benefits

The big banks will not usually consider your benefit payments as a source of income, so they are less likely to approve you for a loan. However, there are many lenders that accept Centrelink payments as a source of income. Cigno will optimise your application to ensure the best chance of a positive outcome.

Loans for Unemployed People with Bad Credit

You might think being unemployed and having bad credit makes it impossible to get a loan, but that is not necessarily the case. Some lenders do not require a good credit history and lend to people who rely on Centrelink income. Cigno can assist you to apply for a bad credit loan by working with a lender who does not perform credit checks.

Loan Repayments

As part of the application process, you will have the opportunity to choose a repayment schedule that is affordable and corresponds with your payday. We use direct debiting so you don’t even need to think about your repayments, but we also send reminders so you know exactly when the repayments will come out of your account.

It is important that you choose the repayment schedule that you can afford while still being able to pay your ongoing everyday expenses.  If not, then you should consider other options.

Can’t make your repayments?

If during your loan, you cannot make a repayment when required, just let us know. Late repayments may result in additional fees, so we recommend contacting us well in advance if you think you might miss a repayment. Our friendly support team will work with you to arrange a new affordable payment schedule.

NOTIFICATION OF MISCONDUCT BY CIGNO AUSTRALIA

Ordered by the Federal Court of Australia

The Federal Court of Australia has found that Cigno Australia Pty Ltd (Cigno Australia) and BSF Solutions Pty Ltd (BSF Solutions) have breached the law by engaging in unlicensed credit activity and charging prohibited fees.

In the period from July 2022 to 3 October 2023, over 100,000 consumers have been lent a total of $34 million, and charged fees of over $70 million, under the ‘No Upfront Charge Loan Model’ operated by BSF Solutions and Cigno Australia. At no time has either BSF Solutions or Cigno Australia held an Australian Credit Licence.

The Court also found that Mark Swanepoel (director of Cigno Australia) and Brenton James Harrison (director of BSF Solutions) were involved in these breaches of the law.

With effect from 24 May 2024, the Court has granted permanent injunctions preventing Cigno Australia and BSF Solutions from:

  • demanding, receiving or accepting fees or charges, including amounts of loan principal, from consumers in relation to credit provided under the ‘No Upfront Charge Model’; and
  • engaging in further credit activity pursuant to the ‘No Upfront Charge Loan Model’, including by entering into new agreements with consumers, for so long as they do not hold an Australian Credit Licence.

Cigno Australia was ordered by the Court to, by 5th July 2024, send written communications to consumers who between July 2022 and December 2022 entered into agreements with Cigno Australia and BSF Solutions under the ‘No Upfront Charge Loan Model’.

The Court will later determine whether (among other things) Cigno Australia and Mark Swanepoel ought to pay a pecuniary penalty in respect of this conduct, and whether Mark Swanepoel should be restrained from carrying on a business engaging in credit activity.

Cigno Australia, BSF Solutions, Mr Swanepoel and Mr Harrison intend to appeal the decision of the Court and have filed an application for leave to appeal. If the appeal is successful, some or all of the orders of the Federal Court of Australia may be set aside.
